38th Annual SLO Tri – Made in SLO!

This year marks the 38th year folks have traveled from places all over (Hawaii, San Francisco, Oregon, Bakersfield) to continue their tradition of participating in this unique, family-friendly, low-key, #MadeInSLO Triathlon – The SLO Tri – held on Sunday, July 23, 2017. We were there once again with our GH Booth (our 38th Annual Booth!) and excited to share a few of our own event-favorites with you.

Celebrating Triathletes & The Race Director
To us, this year’s superman-style logo celebrated the triathletes – Supermen & Superwomen in their own rights. It also represented Rich Ogden who has been an extremely successful Race Director of the SLO Triathlon for as long we can remember. He retires this year from the City of San Luis Obispo and steps down as the race director. He will pass the torch to the new 2018 SLO Tri Director, and he will be greatly missed.

Being Inspired by “Cool” People
Cool defined here as toughest-of-the-tough, goal-driven, yet super down-to-earth! From left to right. Brian is congratulated with his first GH Sunglasses at our booth after crossing the finish line!! He had picked up his first official tri shorts at GH the day before  to complete his first Triathlon at the SLO Tri.  Laura gives us a glimpse of her gold that boasts her motto “Iron Women Never Rust.” She shows off her 56-year-old guns after sharing her stats that include…13 iron distances (5 in Hawaii) and the Women’s course record holder in ’90 and ’95 at Vineman!

Giving Away A Pair of Shoes – much deserved!
Lucky winner, Alan Huff, was drawn at random to come by GH Sports to pick out his favorite running shoe from our Famous Shoe Wall. Our gift to him; a well-deserved celebration.

Warming Our Hearts; So Thankful
It’s special to be involved in an event like the SLO Tri where the community is celebrated, fitness is rewarded, and traditions are maintained. Looking forward to many more SLO Tri booths to come!
